Nous avons connu une saison 2011 assez contrastée. Et cela n’est pas indifférent au planteur de pin parasol, soucieux de la survie de ses sujets laborieusement mis en terre cette année. En effet, passer le cap du premier été est déterminant. Si le plant survit on peut espérer qu’il tiendra avec plus ou moins de vigueur et d’enthousiasme, certes, mais ayant planté ses racines il doit être à même de se débrouiller tout seul. Or donc, le printemps s’est montré exceptionnel d’ensoleillement et de faibles précipitations. Avril, Mai, Juin et la première semaine de Juillet étaient épatants pour le promeneur et l’amateur de longues stations sur la plage. Celui-ci aura pu cultiver à loisir son mélanome cutané comme aime à le rappeler notre vénéré Président.


Pendant ce temps là quelques joyeux volontaires ont fait progresser notre Allée sur la parcelle de la sablière puis sur le terrain militaire de Souge. Ce dernier a pour mérite d’être proche de Bordeaux et pour inconvénient d’être desservi par des pistes sablonneuses demandant un certain savoir-faire au volant. Nous n’avons pas tenté l’aventure après une forte pluie mais je pense que c’est un peu risqué faute de disposer de véhicules spécialisés. Quoiqu’il en soit ceux qui ont accompagné Yves au mois de Juin, en plein cagnard, doivent en garder le souvenir. Sur les photos immortalisant cette journée on remarque une lassitude rubiconde sur les physionomies et un abattement notable du chien accompagnateur. Bref nous n’avons pas avancé autant que prévu.


Notre Président, inquiété par la sécheresse a décidé de consacrer les fins de semaine à ses protégés. Il faut l’imaginer le samedi après-midi faisant du stop sur les routes des plages avec un petit matériel plus ou moins visible au premier abord pour ne pas effrayer l’automobiliste : Une houe, deux arrosoirs, un sac contenant du crottin de cheval, un autre de tourbe et quelques plants de feuillus et pins parasols. Pas mal pour un seul homme et c’est sans compter le matériel de bivouac de l’aventurier sylviculteur. Il est bien évident que n’importe qui d’autre serait resté en rade jusqu’au dimanche soir mais c’est sans compter les effets de la notoriété. En dépit de cet encombrant, voire odorant, bagage notre homme n’a jamais longtemps attendu pour être embarqué. Combien d’automobilistes s’étonnant de voir la vedette dans cet équipage ont-ils été convaincus par son discours et viendront nous aider prochainement ? Nous le saurons bientôt.


Pendant que le citoyen lambda, arrivé sur le Bassin entame une partie de boules avec ses voisins, Yves ayant rejoint « pedibus cum jambis » la parcelle visée, plante sa tente et sans mollir entame la campagne de nettoyage/défrichage de nos pins. Les années passant il faut bien accepter que leur croissance soit sensiblement moins rapide que celle de leurs voisins maritimes. Il importe donc de leur faire un peu de lumière en débroussaillant alentour. Les bruyères, les molinies, passe encore, mais les ajoncs agressifs ont une tendance à proliférer de manière indécente.
La nuit tombe maintenant, là-bas sur les plages, l’apéritif prend fin et l’on se met à table, non loin du barbecue. Les conversations sont animées et l’on refait le monde comme d’habitude. Le planteur solitaire, à moins qu’il n’ait convaincu une jeune et compréhensive partenaire, mâchonne son sandwich et avale sa tisane froide faute de pouvoir faire du feu. Il va passer le début de la nuit à guetter l’apparition des biches et des chevreuils mais le plus souvent se contentera du vol des chauves-souris et du chant des grillons. Là haut dans le ciel les étoiles regagnent leur place, rejoignent leurs constellations respectives. Une immense paix règne sur les bois, troublée de loin en loin par quelques grognements suspects…


Un nouveau jour se lève, le citoyen lambda est revenu, chargé de croissants et de baguettes croustillantes, de sa première sortie. On déjeune en famille et en baillant.
Pendant ce temps-là, Yves est debout depuis un bon moment. Sa toilette a été rapide, son petit déjeuner tout aussi succinct. Il est maintenant occupé à remplir ses arrosoirs dans un fossé. Et chaque dimanche qui passe l’opération est plus difficile car l’eau devient rare dans les crastes.
Le chapeau vissé sur le crâne, les bottes aux pieds, il se déplace d’arbre en arbre versant quelques litres du précieux liquide sur les plantations du printemps. En tendant l’oreille il lui semble entendre un « merci » étouffé provenant du jeune pin parasol, sauvé d’une soif mortelle.


L’heure du déjeuner à sonné. Sur le Bassin le citoyen sans imagination revient de la baignade ou de sa partie de golf. Il lui faut s’activer pour préparer le repas à moins qu’il ne choisisse la facilité du restaurant. Sans raison précise il ressent à ce moment précis comme une vacuité dans son existence. Ces dimanches qui se suivent, sans projets précis, sans activité créatrice, lui semblent à cet instant sans saveur.
Le Planteur, pendant ce temps-là, s’est accordé une pause. Le dos appuyé sur un arbre affectueux, il pique-nique. L’affection du pin maritime se caractérise par des traces collantes et poisseuses il s’en apercevra plus tard. La solitude l’incline à un retour sur lui-même, loin de l’agitation joyeuse des collations habituelles lors des expéditions en groupe où l’on partage frénétiquement les charcutailles et les fromages en buvant les crus les mieux choisis. Il savoure ce retour à la Nature, la sensation de faire partie d’un immense mouvement d’embellissement, la satisfaction d’utiliser son savoir-faire et ses forces. Il imagine dans dix ans, vingt ans, une promenade sous l’Allée des pins parasols gigantesques, s’allongeant à perte de vue, des familles emmenant les enfants découvrir cette merveille. Les touristes étrangers inscrivant la visite de l’Allée sur leur programme et revenant stupéfaits de tant de beauté. Les responsables de l’Unesco ont prévu de classer le site prochainement, c’est la consécration… Le Planteur s’est assoupi et rêve…


C’est maintenant la fin du jour, dans sa voiture et ralenti par les inévitables embouteillages de retour de plages, le citoyen lambda récapitule son week-end. Son agitation oisive lui parait bien vaine. Gardera-t-il souvenir de ces moments agréables évidemment mais sans portée ni lendemain ? Quel est le sens de tout cela ?
Pendant ce temps Yves revient chez lui, ivre d’une saine fatigue et de la satisfaction du devoir accompli. Il a sauvé de la mort des dizaines d’arbres et concouru à la mise en valeur de sa région. Cette nuit il dormira du sommeil du juste.
